Information on Wine Country !
Okanagan Wine Country is one of the fastest growing wine regions in the world. State of the art winemaking techniques and cutting edge vineyard management is why the Okanagan Valley can produce world class wines in a northern climate. This ever growing wine community has worked together to make touring Okanagan Wine Country a unique and memorable experience.
Most of the wineries have tasting rooms with free tastings of many wines. Wines you wont see in stores are often sold direct from the tasting rooms. The tasting rooms are set up for any and all to enjoy. From designer clothing to accessories for your kitchen and unique giftware you will be able to find things you wont see once outside wine country. Okanagan Wineries host festivals and individual events for member clubs, touring groups & weekend travelers. If your visiting the wineries you can often have a guided tour and learn about the entire winemaking process from how the vineyards are managed and harvested to how the grapes are fermented and processed into finished wines.
Its fun and very educational to learn about how some of your favorite wines are made. In many cases you can see the very grapes that go into your wines. Discounts are given for quantity purchases. Private personal guided wine tours are available. You will get that special treatment, get to taste rare and limited release wines that others don't have the opportunity to enjoy or purchase.
Many of our guests that stay at the Borgata Lodge come back with stories about meeting interesting people on their tours and travels. Our vacation rental clients are special to us and we want you to come back. Many have become good friends too.
We can arrange guided wine tours for you in advance and you will be picked up right at the Borgata Lodge front door.

San Jose Del Cabo Information
A bit on San Jose Del Cabo's History
San José del Cabo is a pleasant city of meandering streets, lush palm groves, and the languid pace of a colonial village. The area was first visited by Cortés himself in 1535. But it was missionary zeal, not conquistadors, that first brought European civilization to San José. A Jesuit mission was built in 1730 to indoctrinate the Pericu Indians of the region. In the nineteenth century San José slowly evolved into a modest center of commerce for passing ships. Today it is a town of 24,000 people that has a handsome Municipal Palace, charming courtyard restaurants, shops, boutiques, and a lovely tropical estuary. The atmosphere here is subdued compared with the more rowdy town of Cabo San Lucas.
Our vacation rentals offer just what you need for a super stay at Coral Baja.
Golfing in San Jose Del Cabo Area
Cabo San Lucas golf courses have much to offer the serious
golfer. Golf Digest has rated the Cabo Del Sol Golf Course number 70th in the
world. Jack Nicklaus says it has the three best finishing holes in golf. Of
course, it hasn’t always been this way.
Before 1983 it was just another piece of beautiful oceanfront property alongside
the Los Cabos corridor, just 11 kilometers from Cabo San Lucas. The Bud Parr
family, pioneers of Cabo, once owned the land. This was the second project
created by Don Koll in joint ownership with Koll International and ICA, one of
Mexico’s largest and most successful developers.
Cabo Del Sol is a master planned development with two hotels: the Sheraton
Hacienda del Mar and the Fiesta Americana Grand Los Cabos. The master plan calls
for up to 54 holes total, based on water availability, as it takes 800,000 to
1,000.000 gallons of water a day to maintain these world class courses. The Cabo
Del Sol Golf Course opened in May of 1994, it has played host to the Senior Slam
in 1995 and 1998.
In 1982, Eduardo Sanchez Navarro, heir to the Corona Beer family, set his sites
on over 3,000 acres between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. At the time,
there were 400 hotel rooms in all of Los Cabos, less than one-third of them
considered first class. This sloping land full of cactus and scrub brush, along
with continuous views of the ocean, is now the master planned area called Cabo
Real Beach and Golf Resort.
Today it is home to seven deluxe hotels with over 1,000 rooms and two more
international hotels in planning stages. In addition there are two world-class
championship golf courses. The success of Cabo Real brought on the opening of
the spectacular Eldorado Golf Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, in 1999. Six
holes hug the ocean and a carefully placed driving range has inspiring views of
whales watching you from the Sea of Cortes. Residents have already embraced the
course as one of their favorites.

Cabo Del Sol
| The Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol is another Jack Nicklaus signature course, this one with 1.5 miles of oceanfront. Considered by some to be the most challenging in Los Cabos, even those who don’t agree with this say it is of spectacular design and thrilling to play. Jack Nicklaus has called his perfect stretch of Los Cabos “the best piece of golf property in the world.” Golf Magazine named Cabo del Sol on its list of the “Top 100 Courses In The World,” and Pacific Golf Magazine has called it “one of Nicklaus’ finest creations” and the “Mexican version of Pebble Beach.” Plenty of arroyos, sand traps and other obstacles make play very interesting. The fourth hole is the longest on the front nine playing 568 yards from the championship tees. Holes six and seven are a rare surprise with back-to-back par threes that play 190 and 207 yards respectively. As well designed as the front nine, the back nine will tease intermediate players, but beginners may find themselves hitting out of arroyos. Cabo del Sol Director of Golf, Brad Wheatley, says “play within yourself, don’t try to do too much. Keep out of the desert, but if you get stuck, stay focused on the ball.” Of the nearly two miles of ocean frontage, 1.5 miles of it is devoted to holes six, seven, eight, sixteen, seventeen and eighteen. At the par three seventeenth, the golfer is faced with a 178-yard shot over a sandy beach and rock outcroppings to a small green framed by bunkers on one side and a drop to the ocean on the other. The finishing hole, guarded by desert and cactus on the right and rock cliffs leading to the sea on the left, is modeled after the eighteenth at Pebble Beach. A wonderful combination of natural beauty and brilliant architecture, Nicklaus says “Cabo del Sol has three of the best ocean finishing holes in the world.” Cabo del Sol is only getting better. |

Palmilla
The first Jack Nicklaus signature course

renowned Hotel Palmilla. A small, boutique oceanfront resort that blends
luxurious comfort and personal service with old world charm.
Palmilla offers golfers spectacular views of the Sea o Cortèz from nearly every
hole as it winds through centuries old cardon cacti and rugged desert mountain
terrain, making each hole a memorable experience for golfers of every skill
level. The course is divided into the 3,337-yard Arroyo Nine, the 3,602-yard
Mountain Nine and the 3,548-yard Ocean Nine. The five sets of staggered tee
boxes ensure golfers, from beginners to professionals, an exciting game.

Cabo Real
With two spectacular seaside holes, and
three magnificent mountain holes as its signature, Cabo Real Golf Resort
promises to be the centerpiece of Los Cabos resort golf. It is situated midway
along the coastal corridor, halfway between San Jose and Cabo San Lucas at the
Melia Cabo Real Hotel. Designed and built by the Robert Trent Jones team - who
enjoy international acclaim for their championship resort layouts around the
world - the Cabo Real Golf Resort features an 18 hole course to provide a
varietal challenge for golf enthusiasts.
The first 18 holes of the championship Cabo Real Golf Course are laid out over
more than 7,000 yards. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., with its numerous
sand traps
and arroyos, the course provides a real challenge for low handicap golfers but
is still great fun for beginners. Cabo Real Golf Course is a spectacular example
of the art of designing and building a truly challenging golf course.
When he first saw Cabo Real, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. set his goal to create ‘a
high quality course that appears to have been designed by its setting, where
every hole
features vistas of the sea.’ The 7000 yard course works its way up into the
mountains from the first tee to the sixth green. From the sixth hole, it winds
its way down the mountain, sneaks past the lake on the ninth fairway to the
ninth green. Here you can stop for a well deserved snack at the clubhouse.
After a refreshing break, head on down to the Sea of Cortez for a more relaxing
back nine. That's the first 18. Construction on the second 18 within the Cabo
Real development, El Dorado, has just been completed.

El Dorado
El Dorado is a signature course designed
by Jack Nicklaus. The master designer created a wild desert course that skirts
along the ocean. Breakers are crashing just a few feet away from six of the
greens.
This is the newest and most beautiful of all the Cabo courses, featuring a
challenging layout with six oceanfront holes on the Sea of Cortez and the
remaining twelve holes carved out in 2 pristine canyons with beautiful trees,
cacti and rock formations. Bring your "A" game, patience, and a camera. This is
a "kinder and gentler" Nicklaus course, but no pushover by any stretch of the
imagination. It is a wonderful challenge to the physical and mental aspects of
your game.
Do not miss the chance to play the ocean holes, as they contain some of Cabo's
prime ocean front views! As the course matures, it is expected to climb into the
top of the world's "must play" lists.
